CitraBlue St. Augustine Hat on Grass

CitraBlue St. Augustine Research & Breeding Process

CitraBlue Update – The Research Objectives That Yielded This Revolutionary St. Augustinegrass

In late 2019 and early 2020, CitraBlue™ St. Augustine will become commercially available in limited quantities—first in the Florida market, followed by the Gulf Coast, then the greater southeastern United States, and ultimately, wherever St. Augustinegrass is grown and sold. In due time, homeowners and commercial applicators will come to know and appreciate the characteristics of this new grass: dark blue-green color, disease resistance, shade tolerance, drought tolerance, reduced mowing requirements, and natural weed resistance.

Grasses like CitraBlue come to the market as a result of years of dedicated effort and focus. Dr. Kevin Kenworthy and his colleagues at the University of Florida’s turfgrass breeding program are to receive all the credit for this outstanding new St. Augustinegrass. Click here to learn more details on Dr. Kenworthy’s breeding objectives that lead to the development of CitraBlue.
