CitraZoy® Zoysiagrass, developed by the University of Florida, is raising the bar for home lawns. This spring, the Florida turfgrass industry came together to install CitraZoy® at the new Lakeland, FL home of Heather Russo, Association Manager of the Florida Turfgrass Association.

The project showcased a full-circle collaboration within the state’s turfgrass community. Sod Solutions donated 5,000 sq. ft. of CitraZoy for the late March 2025 installation. The sod was grown by JW Turf Farms and professionally installed by Crest View Landscape.
“I recently built my home and was not sure what grass I wanted to install,” Russo shared. “I kept seeing the sample trays that Sod Solutions would take to events and just loved the fine texture and color. Since I am maintaining the yard, I wanted to ensure that it was easy to mow. The grass is so soft and the color is a vibrant green.”

As someone closely connected to the turfgrass industry, Russo had high expectations for her lawn and she found the perfect match in CitraZoy. “I get many compliments on the yard and am very happy with the variety. Best part is, I can walk in it barefoot as I’m not allergic to it like other varieties.”
With superior drought tolerance, strong resistance to large patch disease and extended winter color, CitraZoy offers a fine-textured, low-maintenance solution that performs exceptionally well in Florida’s climate.
