Latitude 36™, NorthBridge® and Celebration® Bermudagrass in the Professional Sector

It has been a whirlwind year for Sod Solutions selection of bermudagrasses around the world.  In 2019, in the United States, success continued to grow across the sports and golf markets in particular.  Those grasses are blessed to have the care of many talented sports turf managers.  At 2019’s Florida Turfgrass Association conference, the crew managing Orlando City’s Exploria Stadium was presented with the 2019 Florida Sports Field of the Year award.  At that time, Matt Bruderek was the head groundskeeper and was a vital part of the decision to install Latitude 36™ Bermudagrass for Orlando City of the MLS.  Now he has the opportunity to manage another Latitude 36 field at brand new Miami Freedom Park, home of the Major League Soccer expansion Inter Miami, where it was installed in November 2019.

Latitude 36 has not only had success in the MLS arena but also in college football and MLB/MiLB.  Last year, Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, Davis Wade Stadium (Mississippi State Football), Bryant-Denny Stadium (University of Alabama), Fifth Third Bank Stadium (Kennesaw State) and TD Ballpark (Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training) were just a few of the high-profile sports venues that also installed Latitude 36.

There were several golf jobs as well that included the Ralston Course at the Daniel Island Club in Charleston, SC, McLemore Club in Rising Fawn, GA, Lakewood Club at The Grand Hotel Marriot Resort in Point Clear, AL, Highland Oaks in Dothan, AL, Chickasaw Country Club in Memphis and even the Vistas del Pedregal Golf and Country Club in the Dominican Republic.

NorthBridge® Bermudagrass continues to gain popularity and remains successful amongst many of the NFL teams. There are plans to have a few colleges, MLS stadiums and several large golf jobs installing in 2020.  It will be an exciting year for the program.

Celebration® Bermudagrass continues to be a standard in the industry.  A few headline installs of 2019 were at the Orioles Spring Training Center, Chivas U.S.A. in Guadalajara and Rayados FC in Mexico, as well as a PGA Tour course, TPC Louisiana.

Sod Solutions is glad to be able to bring turf managers from all areas together to share what makes their fields or courses successful and appreciate the support from the growers to the end-users that help provide the best playing surfaces.  We love hearing about your projects! Be sure to share them by emailing Erin Wilder, ewilder@sodsolutions.com.
