A year ago, at the height of the pandemic, most trade shows and conferences went the “virtual” route and the American Society of Landscape Architects was among them. This group of designers and specifiers made it back face to face with the return of their in-person annual conference in late November.

Sod Solutions employees Whit Jacobs and Tommy Lineberger traveled to Nashville for the 2021 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture November 19-22. The conference featured over 100 educational opportunities for attendees.

The event brings architects together from across the country and for us, it offers an opportunity to promote the benefits of not only natural grass but of better varieties of natural grass. It is surprising to find when speaking with landscape architects, how little they know or understand about grasses. It really has not been a big focus of the curriculum in the past but they are genuinely interested.

It is important to represent natural grass at this conference as many of the larger advertisers in attendance are artificial turf companies, playground surfaces and the like. A push toward improving the environment needs to start with the organic and the natural.

“Sod Solutions was pleased to represent the industry at this national conference. Hopefully all of our producers and partners will look into learning more about their state and local ASLA organizations,” Jacobs said.
