Sod Solutions Awards Admirals Cove Celebration Golf Course of the Year
Once a year around the time of the Florida Turfgrass Show, Sod Solutions awards a sports field or golf course with the title of Celebration Course of The Year.
This award recognizes innovative sports turf managers and superintendents who are involved in the turfgrass industry, and have maintained an impeccable Celebration® Bermudagrass surface.
The winner of this award receives a framed photograph of their course or field, a plaque and industry recognition.

An Interview with Admirals Cove Superintendent Blair Kirby
1. Why did you select Celebration Bermudagrass?
The East Course installed it in 2007 under the direction of Bill Brousseau. In 2009 Bill said he loved it for the divot recovery and ability to choke out weeds. Due to the success on the East Course and the desire to maintain consistency throughout the two golf courses, Blair converted Golf Village in 2015. Blair said, “It allows us to have 45 holes of the same playing surface and avoid the possibility of contaminating one of the courses with different turf types.”
2. What is your favorite things about Celebration Bermudagrass?
There are several factors. The recovery rate from stress or damage is something I really like. Another is that it’s a surface you can really push for all different heights to as low as you want.
